Anthony Greco, 18, has been sentenced for sending more than nine million online instant spam messages to members of a web forum.

MySpace.com hired Greco to provide a computer program that would send its members instant message advertisements. Greco sent spam to 27,000 fake MySpace accounts he had created. He then threatened to tell others how to spam MySpace if he was not given exclusive rights to send commercial email through the site.

The case was held under a closed session at the defence attorney’s request. It is not yet known if Greco received the 18 month to two year prison sentence outlined in a previous plea deal.
